شرکت پتـروشیمی خوزستان «KZPC» (سهـامی عام)، تنها تولید کننده پلیمرهـای مهندسی، یکی از مهمترین واحدهـای پتروشیـمی کشور بشمـار مـی رود که در تـاريـخ بيست و شـشـم اسـفـنـد ماه سال ۱۳۷۶ تـأسيس و در راسـتای عـمـل به بخشي از تعهدات خود در برنامة پنج سـالـه دوم دولـت جمـهـوری اسلامی ايران، در زمینی به مساحت ده هکتار احـداث و عهده دار اجرای طرح تولید «پلیمرهای مهندسی» میبـاشـد. پـلـيـمــرهـای مـهنـدسـی، دسـتــه ای از پليمرهای سنتزی با ويژگی های خاص هستند كه آنهـا را از ديگـر پليمرهـا مــتمـايز می سـازد. ايـن گروه از پليـمرهـا دارای قابليـت كـاربـردی بـالايـی در عـرصـه های مختلف بوده و ويژگی برجستة آنها تلفيق دو خصـوصيت «اسـتـحكـام بالا» و «وزن كم» می باشـد كه اجازه می دهد تا اين مواد با ارزش و تخصصی در بسياری از كاربردهای خاص، جايگزين فلزات مرسوم و متداول شوند. شركت پتروشيمی خوزستان به عنوان نخستين مجتمع تـولـيدكننـده دو نمـونه بـرجـسته از پلـيـمـرهای مهندسی يعنی «پلی كربنـات» و «رزين اپـو كسی» در خاورميانه مي باشد. محصولات ايــن شـركـت در صنـايـع مخـتـلـف از جـمـلـه صنايع مخـابـرات، الكتـرونـيـك، بـرق، ساخـتـمـان، هـوا وفـضـا، پزشكي، ايمني و … كاربرد دارد. عمليات اجرايی ساخت و نصب شركت پتروشيمی خوزستان در مهر ماه ۱۳۸۰ آغاز و در مهرماه ۱۳۸۲ خاتمـه یافته اسـت. فـاز يـك (واحـد رزيـن هـای اپوكسی) در تیرماه ۱۳۸۳ بوسیله آقای سید محمد خاتمی رئیس جمهور افتتاح گردیـده اسـت. وفـاز دو (واحد پلی كـربـنـات) در دی مـاه ۱۳۸۶ بـه تـوليـد تـجـاری رسيــده اسـت. ظـرفيــت اسـمـی شـركـت پتـروشـيـمی خــوزســتــان ۳۵ هــزار تــن مـحـصــول نـهـايـی (پلـی كـربـنـات – ۲۵ هـزارتـن و اپوكسي رزين – ۱۰ هزارتن) و ۳۰ هزار تن محصول ميانی (بيس فنل آ) در سال می باشد. با اجرای اصل ۴۴ قانون اساسی جمهوری اسلامی ایران، شرکت پتروشیمی خوزستان از سال ۱۳۹۱ به بخش خصوصی با ۳۰% سهام عدالت و ۷۰% هلدینگ شركت صنایع پتروشيمـ ی خـلـيـج فـارس (PGPIC) واگـذار گردیـد. عملكرد اين شركت تحت نظارت عاليه وزارت نفت، شركت ملي صنايع پتروشيمی ايـران و هـلـدیـنـگ شـرکـت صـنـایـع پتروشیـمـی خلـیـج فـارس میباشد. شركت پتروشيمی خوزستان به عنوان نخستين مجتمع تـوليدكننده دو نمـونه بـرجسته از پليمـرهای مهندسی يعني «پلي كـربنـات» و « رزيـن اپ
