وقتی قرار است برای یک زمین کشاورزی پمپ آب انتخاب کنید، احتمالا اولین چیزی که به ذهنتان می رسد قدرت موتور است. خیلی ها همین جا تصمیم می گیرند و با خودشان می گویند یک پمپ قوی می گیرم که خیالم راحت باشد اما واقعیت این است که برای آبیاری، همیشه پمپ قوی تر انتخاب بهتری نیست.پمپی که برای یک باغ کوچک جواب می دهد، حتما برای یک زمین بزرگ یا چاه عمیق مناسب نیست. حتی نوع آبیاری هم روی انتخاب تاثیر دارد. آبیاری قطره ای، بارانی و انتقال آب از استخر یا چاه، هر کدام نیاز متفاوتی دارند. پس قبل از اینکه مدل خاصی انتخاب کنید، بهتر است چند سوال ساده از خودتان بپرسید که آب از کجا می آید؟ قرار است تا کجا منتقل شود؟ چقدر آب در هر ساعت لازم دارید؟ و مهم تر از همه پمپ قرار است چند ساعت در روز کار کند؟ اگر بخواهیم خیلی ساده توضیح بدهیم، پمپ مناسب باید آب را به اندازه کافی و با فشار مناسب به جایی که می خواهید برساند. نه آنقدر ضعیف باشد که آب به آخرهای زمین نرسد و نه آنقدر قوی که بیشتر از نیازتان انرژی مصرف کند. مثلا تصور کنید یک باغ دارید و قرار است آب از یک استخر به چند ردیف درخت برسد. اگر فاصله استخر تا باغ زیاد باشد یا زمین شیب داشته باشد، پمپ باید توان لازم برای غلبه بر این فاصله و ارتفاع را داشته باشد.پس هنگام انتخاب پمپ فقط به عدد اسب بخار نگاه نکنید. ممکن است دو پمپ توان مشابهی داشته باشند اما عملکردشان در یک ارتفاع مشخص کاملا متفاوت باشد. قبل از انتخاب پمپ، اول ببینید آب را از کجا قرار است بکشید. اگر آب داخل استخر یا مخزن قرار دارد، شرایط با زمانی که آب از یک چاه عمیق تامین می شود فرق زیادی دارد.برای آب چاه، عمق آب اهمیت زیادی دارد. هرچه آب پایین تر باشد، تجهیزات باید متناسب با همان شرایط انتخاب شوند. اگر پمپ برای عمق مورد نظر مناسب نباشد، حتی اگر موتور قدرتمندی داشته باشد نمی توانید انتظار عملکرد مطلوب داشته باشید. طول مسیر انتقال هم مهم است. مثلا اگر قرار است آب از یک مخزن در فاصله ۲۰۰ متری به زمین برسد نمی توانید همان پمپی را انتخاب کنید که برای انتقال آب در فاصله چند متری جواب می دهد.تعداد زانوها، شیرها و تغییرات مسیر لوله هم باعث افت فشار می شوند. به همین دلیل بهتر است قبل از خرید، مسیر کامل لوله کشی را مشخص کنید. آبیاری قطره ای آب را به شکل کنترل شده در اختیار ریشه گیاه قرار می
